Laying down upon the grass
Wandering thoughts leading to you,
But why? I asked

We used to lie here, side by side,
Just watching the clouds roll by
Like a tide

You used to tell me,
Whenever I had a bad day
That everything would be alright,
Everything would be ok

You would hold me close,
Whenever I was scared
You would hold me close,
When no one else cared

Upon the grass, we sat in silence
Words that were never spoken
But nevertheless heard

But now you re gone
Only memories remain
But the tears just won t come
However hard I try, in vain

Sometimes at night,
I hear your voice,
Telling me that you’ll be watching over me
Just like always

Laying down upon the grass in silence
I looked up into the heavens
As if searching for guidance

Why? I asked, why?
I asked not why they can’t give him back.
I asked not why they couldn’t have taken me along too.
I asked why they bestowed him to me
Only to take him away

I reach out to the spot
where ur hand used to lie
feeling nothing but grass now
wishing i could cry

Laying down upon the grass
Wandering thoughts leading to you,
But why? I asked. Why?
